Charlie Rocket for Boys

Charlie Rocket Blue Guitar 2Fer Tee

Charlie Rocket is one of my favorite designers for boys. They are adorable. I find my little guy irresistible in these clothes. The styles are perfect for an adventurous tot who wants to look good while playing hard. Their vintage and regular tees are made from the softest cotton. Wanting to impress on the first play date, dress your man in something by CR. Girls are sure to be in awe of the threads on your handsome little devil. Speaking of little, for infant boys this brand runs on the tiny side. I recommend buying at least one size bigger to fit immediately or two sizes bigger to grow into. I haven’t purchased the toddler sizes yet. For the fall, I have already ordered the Blue Guitar 2Fer Tee (above) for my dude. I love getting the layered look without having to really layer. Do I really need more laundry? See the rest of the fall 2007 line at tuttibella.com.

Diaper Bags from Barneys

user-pic

Not Rational Diaper Bag (left) and Dante Beatrix, Inc (right)

Mom Snobs, get out your kleenex. Let's shed a few tears for this tragic mishap from Not Rational. Not Rational??? This bag is completely irrational especially for $595. Whoever thought navy blue patent leather was a good idea for a diaper bag? The only positive is that it comes with a changing pad and patent leather does cleans easily. I don't know who will spit-up on it first, you or your baby.

Don't put your kleenex down yet. The nylon Smiley Face Diaper Bag from Dante Beatrix, Inc. is on the same level. At least it is only $95. Barneys must sell these bags to someone. Aren't you curious who they could be?

Mia Bossi

Now, dry your eyes. Here is a bag to really smile about. I highly recommend looking at the Mia Bossi diaper bags. These stylish, chic bags are far more rational, ranging in price from $365-$515. Perfect for any Mom Snob who wants fashion and function.

Fab Furniture: notNeutral T4 Collection

user-pic

tetra1.jpg
notNeutral Tetra1 Ozone Blue - $2,600

I definitely lean towards the traditional style of home decor, but this modern collection is too beautiful not to appreciate. I love the bright colors and sable accents combined with natural wood. The unique design is so sleek that these pieces are even worthy of rooms without tots. There are a total of four pieces in this collection. Each piece uses 4 drawer sizes to build interlocking storage structures. The varying heights and lengths meet all the needs for any baby nursery, toddler room, or playroom. Tetra 1 & Tetra 4 are 10 drawer units. Tetra 2 & Tetra 3 are 6 drawer units. Made of a Birch Euro-ply, this unit features one brightly-painted drawer (your choice) in Ozone Blue, Persimmon Orange, White, or Lotus Green and three dark sable painted drawers. The remaining six drawers are finished in the natural Birch Euro-ply. Available at modernseed.com.

Oval Highchair: Snob or Slob?

user-pic

poshtothighchair.jpg

At first glance this highchair appears to be the perfect find. A highchair that's pretty enough to sit in your formal living room. When registering for my first child, I was dying to find something like this. Let’s call them "transitional" baby items. Ones that don’t scream “baby lives here.” I am thrilled I never followed through. (Tot Snob note: I bought the Peg Perego Prima Poppa and LOVE it.) This thing would have been terrible. It looks like it has an identity crisis: Am I a highchair or am I a bar stool? How they got the baby to smile for the picture is beyond me. She looks uncomfortable. I’m sure the bow that is larger than her head doesn’t help either. The photographer must have been dangling some sparkly jewels by the camera. Anyhow, the seat has no adjustments and sits at a perfect 90 degree angle. Mrs. Manners was definitely behind the design. Thankfully, this child is old enough to sit up straight. What would happen to your six month old? What if his or her head doesn’t clear the tray? The safety strap looks more awkward than functional. However, if you are still sold in form over function, you can custom order this chair in a variety of finishes and seat choices for $895 from Posh Tots.

So, Mom Snobs is this highchair snob or slob?

Bugaboo Bee: Coming September 2007

user-pic

bugaboo_bee.jpg

The Quinny Zapp is soon to be outdated. The Bugaboo Bee hits North America in September 2007. It is the first lightweight, collapsible stroller from Bugaboo. The one piece design is only 20 inches wide with an adjustable handle bar. I just watched the demo video showing four “dads” performing choreographed moves with the Bee. Even if you aren’t in the market for this stroller, you must see the video. You will definitely chuckle while amazed at how effortlessly the Bee functions. I can’t wait to test drive the real thing. Stay tuned for a full review.

Baby Bling from Head to Toe

user-pic

babybling17k.jpgDiamond binky for the snobbiest of Tot Snobs costs a mere $17,000. I just want to know if a G-V comes with that?!?! This soothie has a total of 278 pave cut white diamonds totaling 3 carats and is set in 14K white gold. You can customize it with colored diamonds or engraving. If your baby isn’t drooling, you will be. Are you Mom Snobs thinking what I am thinking? “How long until your blinged out baby forfeits the pacifier, so you can get the stones reset for some Mommy bling?” By the way, this binky is not recommended for actual use. What a relief…I was worried my little one might choke on one of the diamonds.

diorblingshoes145.jpg
Dior Gold baby shoes $145. Also available in silver so your little babe can be properly accessorized. By wearing these trendy metallic shoes, your babe will squash the fashion learning curve. And remember: A properly accessorized Tot Snob is a happy Tot Snob. So, $145 is a small price to pay for a happy baby. Right??

SAHM: It's All in a Day's Work

user-pic

Carolyn_Hax.jpg
Carolyn Hax

Below is Carolyn Hax's syndicated column Tell me About It that ran Wednesday, May 23, 2007 in The Washington Post. It is a short read about Stay At Home Moms (SAHM). As a mother of three and established writer, Mrs. Hax provides an honest response. I have added my own thoughts below. We would love to know what you Snobby Mommas think. Just leave your thoughts in the comments section.

Carolyn:

Best friend has child. Her: exhausted, busy, no time for self, no time for me, etc. Me (no kids): Wow. Sorry. What'd you do today? Her: Park, play group . . .

Okay. I've done Internet searches, I've talked to parents. I don't get it. What do stay-at-home moms do all day? Please no lists of library, grocery store, dry cleaners . . . I do all those things, too, and I don't do them EVERY DAY. I guess what I'm asking is: What is a typical day and why don't moms have time for a call or e-mail? I work and am away from home nine hours a day (plus a few late work events) and I manage to get it all done. I'm feeling like the kid is an excuse to relax and enjoy -- not a bad thing at all -- but if so, why won't my friend tell me the truth? Is this a peeing contest ("My life is so much harder than yours")? What's the deal? I've got friends with and without kids and all us child-free folks get the same story and have the same questions.

Tacoma, Wash.

Tat'r Tots: Slob to Snob Carseat Covers

user-pic

tatrtotscarseat.jpgtatrtotsrobe.jpg
Blue Bubble Latte Car Seat Cover & Beauty Posh-Posh Bathrobe

So, you have this beautiful new baby to bring home. Everything must be perfect, but let's face it the carrier you purchased is not worthy of holding your precious angel. Tat'r Tots will dress up any car seat from slob to snob. The company was born when stay-at-home mom, Jennie Block, had trouble keeping her children’s car seats clean. She combined her creative flair with her business mind and started sewing her own car seat covers. The final product was a gorgeous, washable car seat cover. People everywhere commented on her fabulous covers. Jennie realized she had a hit. To grow the business, she recruited another mom, Dana Gaswirth, who appreciated the concept and had a great skill set to add. Dana worked for over a decade in buying offices for Neiman Marcus and Bailey, Banks, & Biddle. Together, Dana & Jennie changed the world of car seats forever. These dazzling, hand-sewn car seat covers make your budding Tot Snob even cuter. There are several amazing fabric combinations for boys and girls. You can choose from satin, minky, or cotton. I am a big fan of the cotton choices because we live in Texas and it is hot. I was amazed at how relatively easy the covers were to remove, wash, & put back on. Wash after wash, they were still as beautiful as if I just bought them. Another bonus, your car seat is not out of commission while waiting for the original padding to dry. Both my children have outgrown their carriers and now I have coordinating convertible car seat covers. I love looking in my rear view mirror to see my two darlings sitting in snob worthy car seats. However, Tat'r Tots is more than just car seat covers; they have expanded their product line to include blankets, burp cloths, grocery cart/high chair covers, bathrobes and more. Tat'r Tots products can be found in specialty stores across the country or checkout Tinyluvbugs.com or Pinktaffydesigns.com for more complete line offerings.

And just curious, what do you Mom snobbers think of the Tat'r Tots? Snob or Slob?

Eeny Meanie Clothes

user-pic

eenymeaniedress.jpg

This line of handmade clothing is irresistible! I just discovered Eeny Meanie while reading small magazine and wanted to instantly order the butterfly halter dress featured on page 13 for my daughter. Desiring more information about the designer and the line, I headed straight to their web page. Eeny Meanie was born to another Mom Snob, Denise Love, in spring 2006. In a quest to locate fun and interesting play-clothes for her daughter, she was unsatisfied with her findings and therefore was inspired to create her own. Love’s designs combine classic and retro styles to produce total cuteness. The beauty is in the details of vintage fabrics, buttons, and hand-crafted trims. For those who love to support the “Made in the USA” label, each piece is hand-sewn in Denise’s studio in North Hollywood, CA. However, making pieces with such quality is a blessing and a curse. On one hand, you know your trend setter will be wearing a unique, limited edition item. I must note here that it is never too early to start a limited edition fashion collection. On the other hand, sizes run out quickly, so get them while you can. The Girls line includes dresses in apron, jumper, and halter styles, a capri set, pants, t-shirts, and headbands. The Boys consists of pants, capri pants, and t-shirts. There are also unisex belts. Clothing sizes are 1 (18-24 months), 2 (2T), or 3 (3T). Custom size orders are available. Shop online at the Eeny Meanie store or Girl Charlee.
