Crayola Play Sand

crayolasand2.jpgI am super excited about Crayola Sand in every color of the rainbow.  Your tot will be able to build sand castles and anything else he can think of-- all in technicolor!  This is as exciting as the day Hollywood started filming in color!  Not only is Crayola Sand prettier than regular sand, it is easier to clean, too!   My son loves to play in the sandbox but I dread when he comes back in the house (no matter how thoroughly you clean them outdoors they always seem to bring the sand back in with them!), the tiny pieces of invisible sand are hard to see on the floor and/or carpet making it virtually impossible to find and clean until you've stepped on it.  Crayola Sand makes it easy to spot and clean all the colorful grains of sand. Made of the highest quality of premium grade sand and comes in easy to carry pouches; your tot can create their own sandbox anytime, anywhere! Check the website for more details here-- available at your local Wal-Mart.

I just love this this is going to be a must have for us

I am looking for a safe sand to add to my son's 1st birthday gift-a big sandbox. I have been researching sand and it seems that most contain crystalline silica (a dangerous carcinogen) Does anyone know if Crayola sand is CS free?

Hours of fun!

My kiddo is 11 months and loves squishy it between his toes! So I hope your little one has a Very Happy Birthday!

Here is some general information about Crayola's PlaySand.

Crayola PlaySand, like typical beach sand, is a silica/quartz based product (silicon dioxide (SiO2). Unlike beach sand, the sand is screened and washed as well as undergoing dust collection processes throughout it's production.

*It does not however have dangerous levels of respirable/crystalline silica.*<-which I know is your primary concern-So no worries!

In order to get ACMI (Arts and Creative Materials Institute) certification Crayola PlaySand had to undergo independent testing at Duke University to ensure that there were not dangerous levels of respirable silica. Had it not passed this certification, many states would require that it include a silica warning on the bag.

Also, none of the pigments or bonding agents are toxic. Crayola Play Sand is also washed prior to being coated, and in addition it is 100% asbestos free.

For more details on Crayola PlaySand visit www.n2mgroup.com ! Hope that helps!

why isn't this product on crayola's website?

My girls and I love this sand!! As we speak my four year old is playing in blue... naked... but it's not sticking to her and yet she is having a blast!

Yes it is I use it in my hermit crabs tank and You have to use a CS free sand. This is great stuff and it is also free of hook worms and other larva that can hurt your child be sure to cover up your sand baxes everythime after play because if animal fecees get in it you need to replace any sand to make sure your child will be parisite free. Kitty no matter how cute and cuddly she is will create a parisite enviroment that your child will be sitting in. Also dogs have fecees on their feet so they are just as likely to get parisites in your childs play area. I am a lab tech so I see these things under a microscope all the time you dont want them in your child. Other than that sand box play can be way more safe than the beach you dont want to know whats in that!!!

Yes, why isn't it listed on their website? I'm not sure where to find it. Is it only available at certain times of the year? Is it expensive to fill a sand box? Thanks

We just got the Crayola sand in green and absolutely love it. It's less gritty than regular sand, doesn't stick to skin and easily brushes off clothes. I even enjoyed playing in it, and I hate sand! Thanks for the tip!

would like to know if the play sand stains clothes,or hands.i have two boys who r wanting this sand and im making sure it doesnt stain..does anyone know?

It feels good against the skin. I can barely keep my hands out of the kids' sandbox. I'm pretty sure all "Playsand" is safe. Sand that contains silica (a carcinogen) has to have a warning on the bag I believe.
