Antik Batik Sandal

I am obsessed with ankle straps shoes, they are the only things I’ve been looking at these days! I even got a pair of Chloe sandals with this super complicated ankle strap system that are super cute! So of course this obsession is going to carry over to my tots!! These Antik Batik Sandal are tot appropriate but has all the details that make the look on trend. Sure, it is a bit complicated to put on, but consider it a learning tool! Just don’t try to get these on when you’re in a hurry! Sizes starts at US 8.5 (25 in European sizing) so your 4 year old should be able to manage those buckles. At Milk Shop for $128.

I am completely and totally offended that they used the word “squaw” for these shoes. Would they have gotten away with Asian-inspired shoes called “Nip sandals” or African-inspired shoes called “negro sandals?”

As a Metis, I can’t believe the amount of disrespect being shown here. Yeah, I know what squaw literally means, but (like negro) it’s grown to have a very negative connotation due to the way it’s been used in the past, and I find it’s use here disconcerting, at best.

    Hi Kaytey,

I am so sorry by the offense. The name and description actually came from the designer, that is the actual name of the sandal. I always name things exactly as they are named by the designer or manufacturer. I mean no respect in any way and apologize for the insensitivity on my part for not being aware of the negative connotation. I will email Milk Shop and forward your comments to them. In the meantime, I will of course remove the word from this story.

    Best, Kelly
