Aquaphor Gentle Cleanser

aquaphor_gentlewash

Everyone loves and cannot live without the Aquaphor Baby Healing Ointment so it is no surprise that their Gentle Wash would be just as indispensable. I know pediatricians do not recommend giving kids a bath everyday, but I can't sleep at night knowing that my kids might be in bed with sand in between their toes and food stuck god knows where. I have not asked my doctor about this but I have been giving them a bath everyday (plus, hello, it's summertime and HOT!) and using this cleanser, which is soap and fragrance free. I totally love it - everyone loves a clean baby fresh out of the bath and can see that it is not drying out their skin, they are clean in the perfect way they were made, with their own wonderful scent! I got the Pack of 3 for at Amazon for $15.80, my husband and I have been using it too!

Summer Travel Essentials

messfreemagicboard.jpgmustela_sunblock.jpg
Kidsflysafe.jpgtraveljohn.jpg

I have already gone on 3 big trips this summer with my kids and I am telling you, this is all you need. Well, not ALL you need, but if you've got this with you on the plane and in the car, you will make it. If you do not already have a Mess-Free Magic Board ($5.99 but comes in many variety packs ranging in price), get to the store immediately!! These "magic" paper boards will turn into a colorfully painted page with just plain water. There is a fun brush with water dispenser so your tot will feel like Van Gogh as he creates a perfectly painted scene every time. The best part is, once it dries, he can start all over. Perfect for summer travel because the only mess is water, so it also cools them off when they spill.

My favorite sunscreen (and I have them all) is the Mustela High Protection Sun Lotion SPF 50 ($15). I have not had any problems with sunburns and this does not have harsh ingredients found in drugstore sunscreen for kids. It stays on all day, I know because I am not good about re-applying every 2 hours. We have gone to the beach in Hawaii for a full 4 hours without lobster skin of any kind.

This by far is the best invention in children's products! The
TravelJohn Jr.-Disposable Potty ( 6 pack) ($9.99) will save you from accidents and from having to use nasty gas station bathrooms (it is also perfect for amusement parks, if you have waited in line for 2 hours you will know that Murphy's law dictates that once you get to the front of the line, your tot will need to use the bathroom "RIGHT NOW"). This little doo-dad cups right up to your tot's privates to catch the pee-pee without a single drop coming out. There is a powder that becomes a gel so there is no sloshing mess if you cannot find a trashcan right away. I have a girl so, yes, it does work for the ladies as well. She actually loves it. To answer your fears of embarrassment (as I was before I used it), it is actually a very concealed operation so there is no need to worry about the crowds seeing this go down.

If you are flying, you must have the CARES airline approved seat belt ($74.95). It turns the regular plane seat into a 5-point harness in a quick minute. I just flew the new Virgin America and they told me that this was the ONLY seatbelt they approve of. Avoiding bringing your 30 lbs giant car seat on the plane? Totally priceless.

Happy Travels!

Oopsy Daisy!

oops.jpg

Inspired by her own tots, a Burbank mother created a chic line of rinse-free products called Oopsy Daisy. The all-natural line of super-cute baby products (packaged in striped bottles with an adorable tot image!), are free of parabens, artificial fragrances, dyes, SLS, DEA, formaldehydes, and petroleum products. If you ever wish you could wash your little one without having to put him or her in the tub, these products are a quick and easy solution!

High Chair Hair Care Shampoo was the product that launched the whole Oopsy Daisy line. It's meant to be used just like a regular shampoo, except you don’t need water to rinse it off – just wipe it away, brush, and you're done -- perfect for when, as the name indicates, your tot has made a mess while eating (think pudding in hair and all that other fun stuff :) )! The scent was a little too citrusy for me (it’s made of all-natural orange, vanilla, and lavender), but it’s easy to overcome given the original and useful concept.

Other rinse-free products created by Oopsy Daisy are their No Bath Bubble Bath to quickly clean up dirty hands, the Pip Squeaky Clean to moisturize your tot’s skin and scalp, and Cutie Pie Curlz which is a leave-in conditioner for easy combing...all products can be used at home or on the go!

Tiny Tillia Bath Products

TT_Mini_Bath_Gels.jpgtinytilia_moisturespray.gifTT_magicCream.gifTT_hairDetangler.gif
Mini Bath Gels are $12 for a pack of 4, All Over Moisture Spray is $14
Magic Cream $14 and Hair Detangler is $16

This delightful and earth friendly line of bath products was created by Tiffany Lerman (a bit of fun trivia, her mom is Jackie Collins!). These products are fun and engaging, with super cute characters, all named after Tiffany's friends and family. My favorite is Chloe, I said to my daughter, "Look at this cute kitty", and she corrected, "It's a mouse, mom, not a kitty!". She totally loves them! The mini bath gels are brilliant! They are in the shape of the characters and are filled with bath gels, the valve is the kind that is on a beach ball so when you are all done you can fill it with air or water and it becomes a fun toy. I also love the all over moisture spray, it makes things so much easier and faster and the smell is amazing. Although the products do not contain artificial perfumes, they do have natural fragrance. The magic cream is a homeopathic and hypoallergenic salve for boo boos and itchies. It contains tee trea oil and shea butter so it is extremely soothing. I love it for myself when my hands get super dry, it is so wonderful! The hair detangler works incredibly well, my daughter has a birds nest on her head when she wakes up and although she insists it's ok to go to school like that, I would feel like a negligent mother if I actually let her. It is not a totally liquid spray though, it has the consistency of watered down lotion so use sparingly (the scent on this one is a bit strong so you really have to watch how much you use). You can find all the products online at Tiny Tillia or at Fred Segal, Lisa Kline Kids and The Right Start. These adroable characters are being developed into a book series and I've even heard talks of a cartoon! I can't wait for that!

Dr. Bobby Skincare

drbobby.GIF

drbobby_bag.jpg I love these bath and hygiene products from Dr. Bobby. I have the whole set and immediately set out to use them on both my girls. My older one has very sensitive skin so I only use all natural products on her like California Baby but then I realized that the fragrance in those products contain botanicals that she might actually be allergic to. Dr. Brown does not contain any perfumes, botanicals, dyes and is perfectly pH balanced at 6.5, our body's natural pH. It is not organic but the line was specially created by a pediatric dermatologist to make sure it is not harmful to our babies' soft perfect skin. I love the foaming shampoo the most because it really cleans the hair (you would think little girls wouldn't need much cleaning but mine rolls around in the sand and works up an impressive sweat!) and the best part is that it rinses out easily and quickly because no kid likes the water-pouring-over-the-head process (even with the Shampoo Rinse Cup). The body wash was actually used on mommy as well as babies. While I was having a good time laughing as I read a story to my kids, my mascara up started running. I couldn't see and was in pain from the stinging so I ran into the kids' bathroom and grabbed the body wash and washed my face. It took off all my make up, which is quite miraculous, but left my skin really soft and smooth. I didn't get the dry cracked feeling you usually get if you used soap to wash your face with. I was really impressed! There is something simply called "The Stick" which is 1% hydrocortisone with added mineral oils and beeswax. It is for everything you would use hydrocortisone cream on like rashes, eczema, insect bites, etc. I know some moms prefer to stay away from it but if you're like me and would rather have a rash free kid, then you will love it. The stick form is so much easier to get on a squirmy kid and it comes with a handy bag clip so you can whip it out in an instant to nip all the itchy-scratchies in the bud before you end up with a red faced kid. The entire set of Body Wash, Foaming Shampoo, Foaming Hand Wash, Moisturizing Cream and The Stick, including the super adorable doctor bag(which was a big hit with my daughter) is $82.95. Individual products range from $14 - $18 at Dr. Bobby.

Circle of Friends Bath Products

circleoffriendsshampoos.jpg
Circle of Friends Shampoos

Take a trip around the world during bath time. Circle of Friends bath products ($7-$9) are as educational as they are fun. Each product contains a multicultural character with a story about their country on the back. While the concept is great, I was uncertain if my 3 year old would understand it. Never underestimate the power of a young mind. I showed her the character and read the story thinking I was listening to myself talk, after a few baths she started asking me to read about Natasha (No Tearski Shampoo), Heidi (Chocolate Lotion), and Hoshi (Bubble Bath). I was shocked. Beyond learning, the products smell wonderful and are gentle on young skin. All the scented products got thumbs up by parents and kids in our house; however the Little Docs and Lice-Free Zone products were our favorites.

littledocs.jpgLittle Docs product line was designed to help soothe eczema and sensitive skin. My son has very mild eczema and with the Calming Cream ($9.75) it vanished. We had been using Aquaphor, but the ointment can be messy. The Calming Cream blends into the skin.

licefreezone.jpg If you ever had lice in your house, you know the pain staking process of removing them. The Lice-Free Zone is a lice prevention system. The shampoo and conditioner ($12 each or $22 set) use tea tree, andiroba, and lavender oils to naturally repel lice. Just start using it when you hear of the next school or camp outbreak, so you keep your house lice-free. Buy it now and thank yourself later.

Dwell Studio Offers New Designs & Accessories

Dwell Studio Travel Case Small - Transportation ($28) and Bottle Holder - Charlotte ($20)

I heart everything from Dwell Studio. Their fresh, clean designs are always in fabulous bright colors. For spring Dwell not only added four new designs: Charlotte, Dots, Gio, and Transportation, but added accessory styles too. Now, you can take your favorite patterns in the form of bottle holders, changing pads, travel cases, totes, and weekenders. While I may not carry the tote (a little to thematic for a mommy bag), I would love to add a travel case to any bag. Travel cases contain the mess of liquids or crackers and are great kid’s beauty bags for trips. Someone gave a monogrammed one to my daughter when she was born and I never take a vacation without it. Our small one holds bath soap, toothbrush, toothpaste, brush, hair bows, and lotion. So, I just solved your latest gift dilemma. Go Organic from Bath to Bed

Organic food trends started a few years ago and now more mommies want everything organic for their sweetie pies. In the age when everyone is “going green”, what does this new organic craze really mean? Now, manufacturers produce a ton of organic items from clothes to bubble bath just so your baby can get the purest. Organic cotton, similar to organic fruits and veggies, is grown without the use of insecticides or pesticides. However, the benefit is two-fold: not only does your baby have the purest fibers touching his or her skin, but the production of organic cotton causes no pollution that harms the environment. Organic bath products use ingredients grown without fertilizers or pesticides. Read about a few of Tot Snob’s favorite organic products:

California Baby
CAbabybathtote.jpg
California Baby Bath Tote - $20

Not only is it organic but it is fantastic for babies with sensitive skin. The line contains no nut oils, gluten, soy, oat and dairy and no sulfates, DEA, colors, dyes, synthetic fragrances or numbing agents. So, what does it contain? The developer, a vegetarian, uses ingredients from plants and flowers. Only two animal products are used lanolin made from sheep’s wool and beeswax. Great for babies with sensitive skin or skin irritations such as eczema. Still not sold? Try the bath tote (above). I promise you will be back to buy the full-size soon. Shop the BabyCenter Earth-Friendly Boutique.

Swaddle Designs Blanket

Swaddle Designs Organics - $25

Swaddle Designs, already featured as a Tot Snob favorite for its large size and soft cotton flannel, just got better with their organic line of blankets. The blankets are just as soft and just as big, but only better because they are organic. Shop the BabyCenter Earth-Friendly Boutique.

Crib Bedding

The designs, Meadow and Woods, allow your little one to experience nature through organic comfort. Not only is it made from organic cotton, the company uses only vegetable dyes for color. The crib package ($355) has great canvas pieces, decorative pillows, and other accesories to complete the look. Available at Amenity.

cottonmonkey.jpg
Eyes of the World (sheet, skirt, & bumper - $536)

Cotton Monkey adds modern flair to eco-friendly style. They offer five sets of crib bedding ranging from pure, innocent White-on-White set to the brightly themed Eyes of the World collection (above).
