I'm inspired by the real castle we saw in Milan so I thought I'd feature a fake castle inspired by a real one =) How cool is this thing? I guess you REALLY love your tot to get this for her, or maybe you are ruining her by spoiling her excessively. Either way, it's awesome and their adult years will never compare. When they go to college and move into a dorm, they will not be able to exist! And if you've spoiled her properly, you will move this into her dorm room for her. That will at least ensure no boys will sleep over ;-) At Posh Tots for $15,470.

What a smart way to keep your room tidy with this compact modular desk! It fits together into a nice cube when not in use, and pulls out for a desk with seat and storage to boot! Amazing! The padded seat ensures comfort while creating a masterpiece. The desk is large enough to fit up to a 7 year old. By then, they will have real homework and will need a real desk. The P'Kolino Klick Desk is available in red, green or orange for $195.00
Bassinets are only needed under very specific circumstances. And even so, they aren't needed for long. My sister got this Fisher Price bassinet and other than putting her tot in there to justify the purchase, it is mostly left unused. The gliding DOES NOT calm or soothe him in any way. Grown ups think having a bed that slides back and forth would be relaxing and awesome, but for an infant, nothing can replace the human touch. The bed is also so small, there is so much cushion that the space left for the tot would not fit more than a 3 month old. There is no room to change diapers even so it isn't even good for that. The battery life is ridiculous, one use and all 4 D batteries go kaput. It does look cute though, I'll give it that, so at least sitting there being useless is not an eye sore. Available at Amazon for $184.99.
Story time is such a special time for tots. Not only is reading great for obvious reasons but the one on one focus you put into it is a major draw. You can make it even more special with a whole ritual - I already have a pre-bedtime routine of picking out books and bringing it to the bed, but having a special Book Buggee makes it even more special. There is even a seat up front for his/her lovie to ride on. This is so perfect and impactful, I absolutely love the concept behind this! P'kolino Book Buggee for $38.50.
A crib that DOES NOT require tools to assemble. Next thing you know, babies will learn to change their own diapers!! As incredible as all that sounds, the crib is true. I have the world's most complicated crib so I have deep seeded memories of the 3 times we had to disassemble and reassemble the crib, complete with with constant bickering between me and my husband. The Luxo Crib is modern and stylish on top of its convenience and it converts to a toddler bed (with conversion kit). This is a brand new design, which means new parents will again benefit from all the advancements. At Giggle for $990, not a bad price considering my annoying crib was $2000 (the company, Reggiano, is now defunct).
You never know if your Tot will sleep in a toddler bed until you buy it. I took the risk and now have a useless toddler bed full of dolls and other non-children. If I had a dog, it would at least be better used. This convertible bed however gives you options. Whether your Tot grows out of the bed or simply won't sleep in it, at least you can have a great looking chair that will definitely be used. All tots love to sit in chairs their size and you can still pull out the bed when there is a sleepover. Fits all crib mattresses and comes with the chair cushion. At Giggle for $210.
Tots love to help out in the kitchen and it is something I want to encourage, I'm dreaming of the day when they will cook and clean for me =) That's why I love the Little Partners Learning Tower ($170.99) but it is so big and won't get out of the way. The alternative, Easy-fold Kitchen Helper Step-stool
, has the same concept - keeps tots safe from falling off of a regular step, but it folds up for easy storage! And it is cheaper at $115.88. There are 3 adjustable platform heights, which lock in place. The sides have a dry erase and chalkboard for additional activities. It supports up to 125 lbs so if your mom or mother-in-law needs a little lift, they can hop on up!
This is a replica of the 1973 Pony by Eero Aarnio, who said, "A chair is a chair, is a chair, is a chair ... but a seat does not necessarily have to be a chair. It can be anything as it is ergonomically correct. A seat could even be a small and soft Pony on which you can 'ride' or sit sideways." I love his attitude and that is probably why I love this Pony Chair, made of fiberglass shell and a wool blend fabric with padding. Is it a toy or is it furniture? Well, it's comfortable and without a doubt, it will be the most fun seat in the house for tots big and small! Giddy Up Chair is $695.

Asher Post Bed, $699 for Twin
My tots are growing up and I have decided to transition both of them to twin beds in a shared room. I went with Restoration Hardware because they were having a Friends and Family discount and also, their furniture is solid and has great quality, something I can use for many years. Well, their Baby & Child division has not been thoroughly thought out. Whoever runs this division obviously does not have tots. When the beds arrived, I realized that I cannot use regular guard rails on them because the mattresses fit into a wood frame, so would interfere with the opening of the rails (I got them with the trundle so I cannot use a box spring, which would make my mattress above the wood frame). I called the store to ask if they offered a rail that goes with their "Baby & Child" beds but they had no idea what I was even talking about. I had to explain, "So my 4 year old does not fall out of the bed?". They had to call customer service and the answer I got, "Just use standard rails you get at baby stores". Uh.. don't they know, those don't work with their beds?? I called customer service myself and the woman was also scrambling for an answer, I can hear her typing away to find information and she was actually looking online at their website. Hello!! I have a computer too! Answers are not there, I already checked. After banging my head against the wall for an hour, I gave up on them and have been doing research on my own. I am buying 2 different rails to see which will fit, which means I have to deal with returns, etc. If those don't work, I have to call my carpenter to have custom ones made. What a total nightmare!! You would think they thought about this before they started a line for "Baby & Child". The good news is, you will get a full rundown of all the bed rails out there =)
