I LOVE LOVE LOVE Misha Lulu, I go crazy when the new season arrives and I go crazier during their sales. The vintage inspired pieces are super cute and stylist and the quality makes the fit polished no matter how hard they play. These are just 2 of the styles available right now, I cannot get enough of the hot air balloon print!! My niece's room has a hot air balloon them so how could I not buy every size for her so she can grow up with it? Their artwork is so delightful and striking, there is nothing like it. Be prepared for compliments everywhere you go! Shop Misha Lulu at Mini Social now before sizes run out.

While in Paris recently, I saw this spotty D&G calf-hair coat for girls. I actually dragged my friend inside the store to see me try it on (yes, I often buy designer children's clothes - they fit well and usually cost less!). I was beyond excited to discover it was made of real calf hair and that the size 12 fit me perfectly. I was all ready to whip out my wallet when it occurred to me to look at the price tag. Good thing I did. Too bad this designer coat for children came with an adult price tag! It was €1,800. As in, roughly $2,500! Whoa! This price is even higher than most adult coats. Granted, it was nicely made, but it was just D&G - Dolce & Gabbana's younger, cheaper, and more casual line made in China (which is soon to be shut down because of tax evasion charges). As nice as the coat is, it wasn't $2,500 nice. Needless to say, I put it down like a hot potato and walked away disappointed. I had to ask myself, which parent would spend $2,500 on a coat for their twelve-year-old?
We can never have enough prospective activities lying around the house, whether they are saved for rainy days or afternoon lulls. My favorites inspire them to think on their own and use their imaginations. Get your tot's creative juices flowing by giving them the idea - and the tools - to create his or her own book.
Faber-Castell's (of the fine art products) spirited kids' line Creativity for Kids delivers great crafting projects that have a simplicity you'll find refreshing (and easy to clean up!). Who doesn't love a pop-up book? This comes in a two-pack, so the price is low enough to hold a whole book-making party. The fairy tale-obsessed will be provoked to dream up special stories of their very own. These aren't the highest-quality books, but they are fun and if your kids mess up, you won't be too upset. No matter what, it will be something you will keep and treasure for a long time. Best of all, you'll be amazed by all that imagination they have bubbling in that cute little head of theirs.

As improbable as it might be, what I'm really dying to see is a little boy in a full Armani suit. Odds are our tots won't be getting quite that suave any time soon (it's okay - they have plenty of time!). When it comes to dressing up boys, it's much more practical to look towards reality.
This Ralph Lauren jacket merges my snappy fashion fantasies with the real deal. With a corduroy jacket, playing holiday dress-up can be cool, not stuffy. A tailored fit and classic leather buttons bring a smart, grown-up element to his style. So snap that picture while he's all suited up; then he can take off the coat and play until it's time to cover up again when you go outdoors. Just make sure you dress him with the modern edge his youth demands. Please, no tacky, Bill Cosby-worthy snow-flake and moose sweaters!!! At Saks Fifth Avenue for $155.
Boring hoodies aren't for him. No buttoned-up suit jacket for your little boy, either. What he needs - and what you want - is something all men can appreciate: comfort and style. D&G delivers with this hoodie that's the best of both worlds. Why ruin a dressed-up look with a sloppy sweatshirt, when he can wear one that feels like worn-in fleece but looks sharp and dapper. Oatmeal merino wool keeps him comfy, and so do convenient hand-warmer pockets. But bring herringbone into the mix and you have instant polish. With elbow patches, he'll take on a distinguished air (it's all relative!). And the contrasting hood? Adorable. This is great for school and play when you want him to look pulled-together but you know he's still going to get grubby. Machine washable is the only way to go. At Saks Fifth Avenue for $280.
Oh, no. A leather dress for a little girl? For real? Burberry, you've gone too far. This is wrong on so many levels, for both practical and moral reasons. Sticky! Uncomfortable! Unbreathable! Sexy! Unseemly! Do I need to go on?
Yes, we are ready, willing, and able to suffer for fashion, but tots don't want to and they should not be forced to. Wearing restrictive clothing is what adulthood is for! Besides, even if this dress felt as comfy as a pair of fleece pajamas, leather is inappropriate for tots due to its overtly edgy and obviously sensual connotations. Because, yes, grown-ups have sick minds. Why feed into that? If these reasons aren't enough, then there's the very adult price. Consider this logic: you are going to spend a large sum on something your little girl will not be happy wearing, all the while sending out the wrong message. And it's true, people will judge! At Saks Fifth Avenue for $695.
The children's collab I can finally really get behind (though my son is sadly out of the toddler boy's sizes 2-5) is finally hitting Target stores next month! Maybe it's because Gwen has two very fashion-forward boys of her own; likely more so because she has a spirited, youthful, and all-around killer sense of style of her own - either way, this line is everything I expected it to be and more. Funky, fun, and stylish: the way kids are meant to dress.

With a full wardrobe of outfits and accessories and prices averaging about $10-$20, I could really go nuts stocking up on this stuff. I just wish I had an infant to dress in these adorable onesies and outfits! Kicked-up graphics and clever plays on furry critters, plaids, and tutus, these items are as energetic as your tot. I'm crazy about the toddler boy's look of slim-fitting plaid pants and matching bowtie and beret - why didn't she make them for 7 year old?! (It's my boy's 7th birthday today, by the way. Happy birthday to the world's most amazing little boy!). Harajuku Mini jumps right ahead to tweens with a selection moms and growing-up girls can agree on. Layers of pleather, plaid, leopard, and leggings with a few sweet dresses thrown in for the first dance (these prices range from $3.99-$24.99, with the most expensive item being the pleather jacket at $24.99). They may already be back to school, but now they can really get back to cool. Available as of November 13th at Targets stores and on Target.com.

With Halloween coming up way too soon, costumes are surely on your mind. According to my unscientific data gathering, 50% of all toddler girls will be Rapunzel for Halloween this year! So, I have been trying to convince my girls that it's much preferred to be different and original for Halloween (and in life)! When it comes to encouraging creativity and individuality, what could be better than making your own costume? And by this I definitely don't mean going to the fabric store and buying some crazy pattern and all that nonsense. I won't even try! Giggle's easy Design Your Own Superhero Cape kit is the answer - and it involves no fuss. Your child's imagination can go wild with felt stars and shapes, a glue brush, colored pencils, and more, to create a one-of-a-kind superhero cape. And think how proud our designer-tots will be - not only because they made their own costume, but also because they are showing personal flare! And that's something we could all use more of! At Giggle for $40.

I am so excited to recommend this one-of-a-kind children's book by photographer, writer, and professor, David Fitzsimmons. His talents as a photographer are truly displayed in the captivating images of the twenty-one Curious Critters, from a spotted salamander, pink katydid, and softshell turtle, to a jumping spider and flying squirrel. His talents as a writer abound as he speaks to us from each animal's own perspective. The American Toad admits that he is indeed grumpy, while the American Bullfrog lets us know he is the happy guy! Each critter exudes its own attitude and personality while informing us about their habitat, behaviors, and even food preferences! Written in language appropriate for four-to-eight-year-olds, this gem of a book is educational and entertaining - sometimes inspiring a laugh-out-loud. A book that teaches kids not to be scared of little critters when they see them or smash them when they see them in-person: this is a must-have for your tot's library. Hardcover edition on Amazon for $14.36.
