Me Art

user-pic

I couldn't imagine turning a photo of myself -- Andy Warhol-style -- into a piece of artwork, but when it comes to immortalizing a photo of a loved one, that's a whole other story! Me Art is an online site that lets you turn photos of your tot (or any loved one), into custom works of art printed on premium, artist-grade, archival canvas, which is ready for hanging. You can either have a work of art created based on a photo -- just take a regular photo of your child and then choose from six artist-inspired styles (prices range from $285 for a 12"x12" piece, to $665 for a 42"x42" piece). Alternatively you can create Me Art from your tot's artwork! The site uses your child's artwork as the background and then you choose to have your child's initial or full name printed on top ($75 for an 8'x8' single block version). The more elaborate options take either 25 images (12"x12" at $245) or 49 images (18"x18" at $325) of your tot's artwork, along with his or her photo and name and turns it into a truly unique collage.

I smell a Mother's Day splurge....

Personalized Tooth Fairy Pillow

user-pic

personalized_tooth_fairy_pillow.jpg

Losing baby teeth is a huge milestone, they are shedding their last evidence of babyhood. I will really be sad when this process starts and you better betcha I will make it the most slobbery sentimental ordeal. Instead of putting the teeth in a ziplock, because we all know a tooth is not the cutest looking thing out of the mouth, you MUST get something absolutely adorable and fun to mark the occasion. This personalized tooth fairy pillow is an essential keepsake and of course gives you the perfect place for the tooth fairy money ($5 is the going rate these days, a friend of mine just told me she gave her son $50 a tooth!!!). Comes in either pink or blue, order way ahead of time because it takes 2-3 weeks. For $48.

Clay Handprint & Personalized Photo Frame

user-pic

somedayinc_clayhandprintandpersonalizedphotoframe.jpg

How incredibly sweet is this Clay Handprint & Personalized Photo Frame? The perfect reminder for your office of why you are working so hard and when you are really missing your tot you can run your fingers through his/her's. This also makes the best holiday gift for grandparents and other family who live far away! I have tried many hand print molds and the clay is the easiest and makes the best impressions. The watery cement mixtures are impossible as you need your tot to be very still and not scrunch up the fingers (trust me, it'll never happen). The clay allows you to fiddle with it without mistakes until all the fingers are in place, then you gently press each finger in as you hold down the palm. Very easy. This frame also allows for personalization of up to 14 letters. At Nordstrom for $44. Online only.

Best of Tot Snob: Baby Briefcase Document Holder

user-pic

Hello!! Where have you been all my life? Well, at least for the last 2 and a half years of my life. I am the world's most disorganized person, all of my documents are in piles and is moved from kitchen counter to my desk to some box in some cabinet and maybe ends up in the trash, who knows. But now that I have kids, there are things I HAVE to keep safe and put in a place that I can actually find when I need it. I have been using an old folder and I don't even know where it is right now, I am scared to even look for it because I fear I cannot find it. I know I could have used any file system from Staples but special keepsake albums and boxes make them precious to me and I somehow find the ability to keep them in a good place. This is a great gift for new parents, they won't appreciate it immediately but once they are able to pull out their immunization card in an instant while running out to the doctor's office, they will thank you and thank you and thank you. I have a lot of new mommy friends so this takes care of my shopping for them. It comes with folders and charts to log in thank you cards, etc., I doubt I will get that organized but it's a nice feature for the type A moms. BabyBriefcase Document Organizerat Nordstrom for $29.95.

Sterling Heart Rattle by Christofle

user-pic

christofle_sterlingrattle.jpg

Nothing says, "I'm spoiled" like a sterling silver rattle. And not just any sterling rattle, one from Christofle. You might not want to spoil your tot this way, but for a niece, nephew or grandchild - it is your duty to make them rotten =) Keepsakes are nice, especially in our plastic throw away society. It doesn't mean anything to them now but when they get married and become parents themselves, it becomes precious and incredibly sentimental. At Vivre for $330.

Sticks and Stones

user-pic
sns.JPG Isn't everything better when it's personalized? When I was younger I loved seeing my name on just about everything -- I even had stickers that said "property of Sharon" in all kinds of colors that I used to stick all over the place! Sticks and Stones offers a slightly more inconspicuous way to display a name or a meaningful word. I first came across this site when my boyfriend gave me a picture frame filled with photos of himself that he had Photshopped me into! I was looking for something I could give him in return and came across these framed pieces of word art. Sticks and Stones started as an alphabet lesson for the company's founders daughters. The family began "letter hunting" while on walks and would look for different "letters" in nature (sticks) and architecture (stones). They began taking photographs to remember their walks thus creating an arsenal of letters. What started off as a hobby grew into a hugely successful business and now some of the most powerful people in the world are fans including Oprah (she created one for Tom and Katie) and the Obama  family -- not bad! When designing your word art, there are multiple image choices for each letter and you may select the frame style when you're finished. Sticks and Stones starts at $119, but you can get 10% off with the discount code DGIFCA.

Monica Rich Kosann Jewelry

user-pic
monicarichkosann_titaniumnecklace.pngmonicarichkosann_keyring.png

I saw this collection at Barneys New York and it really took my breath away. Monica Rich Kosann is a photographer, which is why these pieces make sense and are so special. This is real jewelry that is stylish, hip and beautiful - not at all cheesy. There a a lot of jewelry with photos but most are pretty bad. Most of my jewelry have special meaning to me, but still, I won't spend money on something that doesn't hold value as real jewelry. These are so incredible but most of all, they are precious and full of sentimentality. I love the long chunky titanium chains (26") on the Twin Round Titanium Half Locket ($2700) with 18K gold image cases, it is a real fashion item with a bold statement. It is meant to look like a pocket watch fob instead of a typical locket, which is so fab! It does not open, it has the hammered gold or satin finish on one side and the picture on the other. If you love the collection but don't want to spend that much, the Key Ring has the same feel and style and is only $170.
