Nivea Goodbye Cellulite Gel

nivea_goodbyecellulite.jpg

Let's just cut to the chase here, this stuff WORKS!! I have heard that this is a favorite among models but how much help do models need really? I need the strong stuff, not the superficial cream for minor blemishes, I've got serious problems here! That is why I haven't tried it until it was given to me to review. After having 2 kids, the skin on my stomach looks like something out of a sci-fi alien movie, it was certainly not the human skin I was born with. I don't mind sporting my pooch but I stop at wrinkly, bunchy, wavy skin. It is enough to make me phone a plastic surgeon. I've tried every kind of cream, very expensive ones, and they had some positive results but none like this one. After 2 weeks of use, the skin on my tummy is visibly smoother. I can't say much for the actual loss of fat but it definitely makes me look nicer and therefore in my mind skinnier. The main ingredient is L-carnitine which is natural in the body and metabolized fat into energy. It comes with dietary supplements that will help this process but I am taking other vitamins already so I did not take these (and I still had results!). You can go to the Nivea Bikini Challenge page to sign up for a 30 day program that will help you with diet, exercise and beauty regimen. Nivea Good Bye Cellulite with 30 day supplements at Amazon for $18.19.

Smythson of Bond Street for Doting Moms

Smythson_wallet.jpgsmythson_keychain.jpg

OK, here is my situation, I don't carry pictures of my kids on me because honestly, I am just not that thoughtful and can barely remember to grab my phone when I leave the house, so the idea of having a photo album of my kids on me at all times is beyond comprehensible in my life. Yes, I know of those photo key chains and tacky plastic picture holders for the wallet but hello, I am a Bag Snob and just wouldn't sacrifice my wallet for the sake of showing off my kids. Fine, call me callous and cold but that is the truth and at least I admit it. Luckily, my obsession with Smythson of Bond Street is paying off because I recently bought a photo key chain ($140) that is beyond divine. They have the most meticulously made bags that are fabulously chic (they have been making stationery and diaries for the English Royal family for over 100 years). They also have a wallet with a photo insert ($510) that is beautiful, especially in the Azur blue. Now when people ask to see pictures, I can show off my kids and my gorgeous Smythson leather accessories at the same time =)

Do-It-Yourself Spa!

newojon.jpgbliss.jpg

Whether you stay at home or work, all moms are busy! I had no idea just how busy until I had my son! And the busier I get, the easier it is to let things for myself go, like facials, manicures and pedicures. I used to get my nails done religiously, and now I just don’t have the time to go weekly. I still get facials, but I’ve also found products that I can use at home, if my facials aren’t as often as I like them! I rotate three treatments that keep my skin looking great. I do still get regular color and trims (no matter what!), but I like to keep my hair shiny and healthy with regular conditioning treatments. Here’s what I use and love:

Need a babysitter?

mm_reviews.jpgmm_sitterandchild.jpg

My husband and I have drastically cut down on our going out since we had my son because it is so hard to find a good babysitter. Now that we live near my mom, it’s much easier, but I don’t want to impose on her very often. But I just heard about a fantastic company! MommyMixer is a babysitter networking company. They hold mixers in over 28 cities in the United States with plans to increase to over 40 cities by year end. Mixers bring parents and babysitters (students from local universities) together. The event begins with introductions, and then the parents and babysitters are given a chance to mix and mingle. At the end of the meeting, parents are given The Babysitter Book, which contains all the sitters’ resumes and availability. For those who have interviewed sitters after sitters, you know how much valuable time that eats up, with this service, you can do all of it in one afternoon! Isn’t that fantastic? What a great idea…I wish I had thought of it!

MommyMixer was founded by Mary Sullivan Cooper, a mother of four (Moms always come up with the neatest business ideas!). When she was a college student she babysat, and after having kids decided there was a need to connect moms needing help with college students.

MommyMixers also offers gift certificates, which would be a great gift for Mother’s Day! The cost is $100 for a registration fee; contactMommyMixer.com or email them.

Henna Belly Tattoo Kit

bellyhenna.jpg

I was never one to show my mid-section even in my pre-baby youth, most certainly not post-baby but especially not during pregnancy. You can say that is not my proudest part of my body. So when I see this I feel a bit liberated to know that others can be so proud as to not only show off their big belly but embellish it with eye catching tattoo! This henna kit has all the tools you need to paint your belly any way you like it, it is a fun way to enjoy your pregnancy. Finally, there is one time in your life when you don't need to suck in! The only thing is, you have to be pretty artistic because the kit does not come with templates so you have to do everything freehand! Maybe you have a friend or baby daddy who is creative! At Cheeky Monkey for $39.99.

Make Up On The Go for Busy Moms!

Makeup on the Go! By Beauty Snob Tyler
As a mom of an exuberant toddler, with many activities, like playgroups and preschool, I often don’t have time for a long beauty regimen. But I’ve found with just a few products that I already have, I can look pretty and polished, in under 10 minutes, with just 5 simple steps!

1. Prep and protect your skin

Even if you’re in a hurry, it’s still important to apply a facial cream with SPF and an undereye cream. This will help to protect your skin as well as providing a great base for makeup. Daily Moisturizer with SPF from the L’Oreal Skin Genesis line is a good lotion with SPF and anti-aging properties.
Oil of Olay Definity Eye Illuminator is an amazing undereye cream that helps to diminish dark circles and illuminate the eye area.

Another great time-saver is tinted moisturizers. Stila Illuminating Tinted Moisturizer with SPF 15 , will give you a beautiful, luminous finish.

Momnesia Winner!

polyphection_group_shot.jpg

Thank you to all the wonderful moms with Momnesia for making this such a fun and heart warming contest. I got such good laughs reading all the stories and they are all worthy of a good pampering. I am glad I decided to do a random drawing of all those who left their stories in comments, I would not have been able to choose the best because I completely empathized with all of them. Unfortunately, there could be only one winner and the lucky girl is Suzanne R. from Hillsboro, Oregon. Congratulations! You will truly enjoy these treatments from Awake. We will have more of these so stay tuned. Next week, Philosophy sets! Now, who needs a good bubble bath =)

Petit Joie by Corinne Auge

CA.jpg

%21cid_image001_jpg%4001C87AD5.jpgHappy Birthday to one of my dearest and chicest friends, Corinne Auge, the designer behind the new tot chic line Petit Joie! Corinne has been a constant source of inspiration to me since we met 15 years ago in Hong Kong; our lives have changed so much since then but at the heart of our different paths has been our unwavering friendship. At almost 6' tall, Corinne is the type of gorgeous girl you want to hate but can't help loving; she is kind hearted and compassionate, and a fiercely loyal friend. Born and raised in Hong Kong, Corinne moved to Paris when she became one of the most sought after Supermodels in Europe. Not satisfied with just being a pretty face however, she completed her college degree at the University of Bamberg in Germany and moved back to Hong Kong where she founded a successful modeling agency. After moving to Los Angeles in 1996, she dabbled in a line of accessories (Pashminas and Indian jewelry) but she put her professional life on hold when she gave birth to two adorable kids, Jemina and Alexander. That is, until the powers at Joie- recognizing her innate sense of style and impeccable taste, talked her into creating a line for girls. A year later, Petit Joie was born. The line is comprised of hip and funky tops and casually chic dresses that all little girls should have in their closets. Full of color and fun, Corinne has really captured the essence of effortless style!

Nars The Multiple in Orgasm

Busy anyone? Yeah, how many times have you left the house without brushing your hair much less get a whole face of make up on? To make your life a little easier, here is a Snobby Mom Tip to make sure you look your best with the least effort. Nars finally came out with the color Orgasm in the Multiples, a one stop shop for all your needs to look fresh. It go with practically every skin tone out there. I have been using the Nars Orgasm blush since its inception and I still replenish when I'm out. Well, surprisingly, their super best seller, the Multiple has only recently come out in Orgasm. I love having the Multiple in my figurative back pocket for those lazy days when I don't have make up on but end up having to meet someone I can't look colorless and disgusting in front of. A little flush and healthy glow goes a long way. The best part is how good it holds up being sloshed around in the make up pouch of my bag. Anything packed somehow gets demolished, even though I think I am pretty gentle with my bags (like, I don't use it to hit people over the head and my bags are all really nice so I try not to drop it). My packed powder recently shattered in a million pieces so now my make up pouch is all powdery. And forget skidattling around town with pressed blush, for some reason it is the most brittle and will last a day in your bag. Enter the Multiple. The all purpose indestructible savior. This is as easy as things get. Dab this all over and you instantly look maintenanced even if its not high maintenanced (but in a good way). NARS The Multiple - Orgasm for $36.50 at Sephora.

Angela Edgeworth: Elegant Perfection

angela1.jpgIf you have been with us since the beginning, you know about our August Pop Quizzes so graciously sponsored by pediped. For those of you that don't know about pediped, Angela and her husband, Brian, started the company because they couldn't find soft soled shoes perfect for their daughter, so they thought why not make them. They created shoes comfortable, stylish, and easy to put on. Now, owning a pair is a prerequisite for the Hollywood A-list Tot Club. The pediped website reads more like a celeb baby book. You can scroll through pages of celebs photographed with their pediped toting kids. In spring 2008, pediped will launch a rubber soled shoe line (pictured right) sizes 6-12 that will be just as functional and adorable as their original soft soled shoe.

pediped.jpg With such amazing success, Angela still makes time to be a mom and wife. She is a Mom Snob who is extremely fashionable yet practical. She understands you can't wear designer clothes round the clock. Recently, I caught up with her to discover how she does it all. Read below to find out how she handles being a mom of two girls, designing shoes, and sneaking in “me” time. Her tips and advice are wonderful.

TS: Being a wife, mom of two girls, and a career woman, set the scene for a typical morning in your house...
AE: Chaos.... trying to get teeth brushed, hair combed, clothing on, breakfast (and that would include myself AND my two girls!), and then a debate with my 4 year old on whether she can stay home from pre-school or not to play with her sister. My two girls know how to push their mommy's buttons.

angela2.jpg

TS: How do you juggle work and mom duties?
AE: It's the never-ending challenge. As a working mom, it's easy to feel that you don't work enough and also don't mother enough. I have an extremely rewarding but time-consuming job. I am fortunate that if I want to take a day or afternoon off, I can always do it (and I do it often), but I set extremely high standards for myself, which is why I'm usually on the computer at 4am. I'm probably hardest on myself on this issue - I seek advice from my friends and re-assurance constantly. Simply put, I do the best that I can and I always make sure we spend quality time together as a family.

Cristina Greeven Cuomo: Timeless Beauty

cristina.jpgTo kick off the launch of our newest website, Tot Snob, we asked one of the most fabulous mommies in New York to be our Snob File profile this week. Cristina Greeven Cuomo, wife of Good Morning America's Chris Cuomo, Vice President & Publishing Director of Niche Media and most importantly, mother of two bouncing toddlers, has graciously agreed to share her tips on staying a yummy mummy with our readers! A native New Yorker, Cristina is of Brazilian and German descent (her great-grandfather was the German Minister of State who founded the Orient Express in the early 1900s!). She is a graduate of Cornell University and she founded and ran the lifestyle magazine, Manhattan File, as Publisher and Editor-in-Chief for seven years before launching Niche Media with Jason Binn.

In addition to her role at Niche Media, Cristina has recently been tapped by internationally renowned skin care line, Natura Bisse, as its US Ambassador. As the new face of Natura Bisse, Cristina will make personal appearances at US events and visit NB's labs and spas in Spain in order to fully embrace its vision. I can not think of anyone more perfectly suited for this role than Cristina, a woman who relies on healthy skin instead of cosmetics to stay gorgeous. Her natural beauty is as inspiring as her dedication to family and community. As if her schedule is not full enough with two small children and a demanding career, Cristina is an avid supporter of the New York Public Library, The New York Botanical Gardens, HELP and Mentoring USA, among other charities.

We know you will enjoy getting a peek into her busy life as Cristina is the ultimate embodiment of the modern woman, one who knows how to have her Loubies and walk in them too!
